For A’ That - 'A Celebration of Burns'
The words of Robert Burns, poet and artist, have crossed the decades, the centuries and the globe, meaning something different to every one of us. The University of Dundee had especially commissioned writers from around the world to converge upon the pages of a prestigious new anthology - DBC Pierre, Janice Galloway, Bill Manhire and Kirsty Gunn - as well as national stars of the literary world - Gavin Wallace, Jim Stewart, Stewart Crossley - and some of the best unknown literary names to celebrate a great life well and truly lived by Scotland's best-known literary figure.
This was an evening of song and poetry, of readings and tributes, and it was immensely enjoyable. The book was made available on the night, priced at a paltry £6.99, and these be also had from Amazon, Dundee University Press, and Waterstones.

Christopher Brookmyre
Reading from his new book, Pandemonium
Christopher Brookmyre's highly acclaimed crime and thriller writing has earned him a reputation for brilliantly plotted and crackling funny novels with a dark edge, and his readings, from his new book, Pandemonium, proved how much he deserves this accolade. The book is a 'simple' satire which fuses world politics, religion and a group of school kids that have been sent on a counselling (and partying) retreat to help them come to terms with the murder of a fellow pupil. Being in the company of such an accomplished writer made a trip to this event, on a miserable night of weather, seem perfect for the large audience.
